THE ATLANTIC ROAD

We drive along the road between sky and sea that runs across islands, islets and skerries connecting Averøy to the Norwegian mainland. It has been named the world’s most beautiful road trip. Besides the stunning coastline, we also experience the beautiful Geirangerfjord, high mountains and fertile valleys.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Lillehammer We arrive in Norway and in the evening we arrive in Lillehammer, the city that hosted the 1994 Winter Olympics. After checking in at the hotel, we gather for dinner.
  • Day 2: Gudbrandsdalen The journey continues between high mountain peaks through Gudbrandsdalen, which is surrounded by seven national parks, including Jotunheimen, Dovre and Rondane. The nature is varied and offers an extensive flora and fauna. After Dalsnibba we start to approach one of Norway’s most beautiful places, Geiranger. We check in at our hotel and then have the opportunity to enjoy the breathtaking surroundings before it is time to have dinner together.
  • Day 3: The Geirangerfjord We take a cruise on the deep blue UNESCO-protected Geirangerfjord which is surrounded by magnificent, snow-capped mountains and lush nature. Waterfalls thunder down almost vertically from the mountains and cliffs are surrounded by glittering veils of mist whose sole purpose seems to be to create shifting rainbows that fill the viewer with wonder. Among the most famous waterfalls are the Seven Sisters, the Bridal Veil and the Suitor. On rock shelves along the vertical mountain walls, farms are boldly placed, hundreds of meters above the fjord. Back in Geiranger, we take the bus and travel along the Eagle Road to the coast. Dinner and overnight in Molde.
  • Day 4: The Atlantic road Today we follow the road that runs between sky and sea, the Atlantic Road. Over bridges and embankments that connect islands and skerries, we make our way from Bud to Kristiansund. The last stretch to Kristiansund goes through the 5.7 km long Atlantic tunnel. We continue along the coastline and in the afternoon we reach Trondheim. After dinner at the hotel we rest after a wonderful day, filled with fantastic nature experiences.
  • Day 5: Nidaros cathedral After breakfast we make a city tour of the 1000-year-old city together with a local guide. A visit to Nidaros Cathedral is also in order. It is then time to leave Norway for now and start the journey back home.
